Vocational rehabilitation
Do you provide vocational rehabilitation services to customers injured in a car crash? Here are a few things you need to know.
ICBC may fund vocational rehabilitation services to assist customers when they are unable to return to their previous employment due to injuries sustained in a car accident.
Vendor account applications
As of February 1, 2024, the process to apply for a direct billing vendor account number will be online.
Direct billing vendor account
To be eligible for direct billing, vocational rehabilitation service providers must meet and maintain the requirements to be an approved vendor.
Apply for or update a direct billing account number.
Invoicing and reporting
Vocational rehabilitation providers must submit reports to [email protected].
Invoices for services that are not associated with a report must be submitted using the vocational rehabilitation services invoice to [email protected].

Fees
Vocational services provided without the prior approval of ICBC may not be covered. In the case of a no-show, the service provider's no-show and cancellation policies should apply. ICBC will not pay for no-shows.

Date of Treatment: April 1, 2019, or later:

Vocational rehabilitation by professionals with both: Master's or doctorate degrees with courses in rehabilitation, and Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) or Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC) designation. | $100 per hour for a master's degree, or $145 per hour for a doctorate degree | $0.47 | 50 percent of the hourly rate for professional services, up to a maximum of 60 minutes total per treatment session |
Note: ICBC does not reimburse travel or mileage costs when the date of treatment was March 31, 2019, or earlier.
Treatment guidelines
Vocational Rehabilitation professionals are expected to assess clients and determine their rehabilitation plans in accordance with the guidelines and practice standards of their college.
