We are committed to working closely with disability advocacy organizations in B.C. to ensure that we provide you with the information you need to effectively support our mutual clients.
We recognize that, as experts in your respective areas, you may identify opportunities to enhance our mutual customers' experience. As such, we are keen to offer an avenue for open communication to optimize the service we provide.
The Disability Advocacy Advisory Group (DAAG), established in 2019, is comprised of members from non-profit organizations and societies. Members provide insights and recommendations on the potential impact of policies, procedures, operational flows and the customer experience to help ensure ICBC Enhanced Accident Benefits meet the rehabilitation needs of British Columbians injured in a crash.

Getting support for an ICBC customer
ICBC Accident Benefits cover medical and recovery costs for all British Columbians injured in a crash - whether they were responsible for the crash or not. The benefits available to ICBC customers and the benefit limits will vary depending on the date that the crash occurred.
You can select the time period in which the crash occurred below to better understand the benefit limits that apply for your client.
ICBC customers injured in a crash before January 1, 2018, have access to
Maximum care and rehabilitation benefits of up to $150,000, such as physiotherapy, massage therapy, occupational therapy, homemaking, attendant care, and temporary total disability benefits.
If all, or a portion of fault is assessed against another motorist, the non-at fault party may file a lawsuit or may claim against the at fault motorist’s third party liability insurance within the applicable limitation period; which is usually two years. ICBC customers injured in a crash between January 1, 2018 and March 31, 2019 have access to:
Maximum care and rehabilitation benefits of up to $300,000
If all, or a portion of fault is assessed against another motorist, the non-at fault party may file a lawsuit or may claim against the at fault motorist’s third party liability insurance within the applicable limitation period; which is usually two years. On April 1, 2019, ICBC expanded the list of types of treatments funded for new claims and introduced pre-authorized treatments. In addition, new and improved accident benefits were announced for those who need them.
ICBC customers injured in a crash between April 1, 2019, and April 30, 2021, have access to:
Maximum care and rehabilitation benefits of up to $300,000
An expanded list of health care providers (most of those have a set number of pre-approved treatments within the first 12 weeks following a car crash)
New and improved accident benefits
If all, or a portion of fault is assessed against another motorist, the non-at fault party may file a lawsuit or may claim against the at fault motorist’s third party liability insurance within the applicable limitation period; which is usually two years. Under Enhanced Care, all British Columbians injured in a crash on or after May 1, 2021 have access to medical care and treatment needed to recover, no matter who is responsible (at fault) in the crash. This includes:
A set number of pre-approved treatments within the first 12 weeks following a car crash
New and improved accident benefits
No maximum care and rehabilitation benefits
ICBC disability discount
As of May 1, 2022, the discount is available to those with ownership interest in a vehicle.
