Become a driver assessment officer
ICBC–authorized driver certification facilities must use qualified assessment officers to conduct assessments of drivers enrolled in their program. Certified drivers can receive an exemption from testing by an ICBC driver examiner.

Steps to become an assessment officer
Complete the application package
The 1st step to becoming an assessment officer is to complete the application package — it includes:
Cover letter
Assessment officer application form
Assessment officer procedure manual (a commercial vehicle and motorcycle version is available), and
Applicant instructions.
The application form lists the prerequisites and requirements to become an assessment officer.
Send your completed application package to our office.
Undergo the assessment officer evaluation
Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact you. If approved, we will let you know how you can arrange for an evaluation by one of our driving school inspectors.
After completing your evaluation, the inspector will provide comments and may give suggestions for improvement. The inspector is there to help you, so feel free to ask questions.
Get your certificate of qualification
Once you have successfully completed your evaluation, we will send you your assessment officer certificate of qualification — when you receive it, you can begin conducting assessments and certifying drivers at an ICBC-authorized driver certification facility.
