Renewing your driver training school licence
You must renew your school licence every year. Here's how.
Eligibility
Your school must continue to be registered with the Registrar of Companies and in good standing.
If you have increased your number of instructors, you must have adequate bonding.
If you are providing on-road (practical) instruction, your training vehicle(s) must be inspected by an inspection facility and meet safety standards.
What if I don't renew my licence?
The school will be closed and cannot deliver any driver training beyond the expiry date.
Did your licence already expire?
Driver training cannot be conducted without a valid driver training school licence. Delivering driver training without a valid driver training school licence is an offence under the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations.
If your school licence has been expired for:
Less than 2 years: complete the steps to renew a driver training school licence. If eligible, your licence will be reinstated.
More than 2 years: Apply for a driver training school licence.
Steps to renew your licence
1. Get a renew package.
We will mail a renewal package to you 3 months prior to your school licence's expiration date. If your licence expires in less than 3 months and you haven't received a package, you can download the Driver Training School Application.
Note: it is your responsibility to ensure the completed renewal package is submitted as soon as possible before your licence's expiration date. Delays could affect your school's operations.

If your address is changing, you must complete the change of address form.
2. Complete the renewal package.
The renewal package must include:
The application form
School licence fee ($100; plus $15 per additional requested) submitted by credit card payment form (provided with the renewal package) or cheque made payable to ICBC.
You may also need to include, if applicable:
Proof of bond term
Proof of vehicle inspection report (CVSE0014)
Documentation to renew active agreements
Note: All required signatures must be done in ink. Digital signatures are not accepted.
Active agreements
Agreements with ICBC expire on the same date as your driver training school licence. You must renew your school licence and each agreement annually. Additional documentation is required.
3. Submit your completed renewal package.
Processing times vary
Your renewal must be processed by ICBC before your licence's expiration date.
Submit your completed renewal package (original documents only) as soon as possible to ensure sufficient processing time.
